The Rise of the Designer

The last decade was surely the geek decade. With leaders like Steve Jobs, Bill Gates, Wozniak and their likes creating empires out of their garages and the boom of the cheap-to-market internet, being a geek was fun, easy and sexy. But having filled the obvious blanks, engineering as defined by the modern geek is hitting the traditional barriers with which science was already struggling for the better part of the last century. Thus we turn our attention to a new market open to obvious advances, easy to break in and create something big.

WELCOME DESIGN CENTRIC CONSUMERISM.

With the coming of the iphone and much more with the arrival of the Ipad “Experience engineering” is the new hot job description. Major players are quick to recognize the change and are already offering their content in a bloated “mediacentric” version. While the engineering geek was the center of the startup boom, the eccentric design-genius will become the center of the coming mediaconsumption wave.

Media consumption will invade our life and magazines will become the new todo-list-applications. Another round towards consumerism, my friends… Ready, set, go!
